Words

It seems to me that our society has gotten used to saying and doing anything they want because they can always say they are sorry later. It is not that simple.

Harsh words cut people like a knife. "I'm sorry" is like a balm and bandaid. It will heal the cut over time(if the person lets it) but it is not an instant healer. There is still a wound there; it still hurts. Until it heals the words are not forgotten.

Now I could go into forgivness but I am going to stick to words.

I have been saying for several weeks now that "a wise man will measure his words with the consequences and only speak when the the words are found to be just." Words are powerful. They can build up and tear down. Words have ruined marriages, parent/child relationships, reputations, friendships, businesses, communities, countries and what hurts me the most: children, BUT just as words tear down they can also build up.

Words are not an uncontrolable circumstance, we choose our own words. WE ARE RESPONIBLE for what we say. We can choose to vomit our words and clean up later or weigh them carefully and see what we build.

The scripture that comes to mind is: James 1:19-20 (King James Version)
19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
